Tokyo-based DJ, producer, party founder and overall Shibuya-icon N² has just released her
debut album, and it is definitely one for the girls who like to party…
Known for her genre-defying DJ sets, and contributions to Tokyo’s dynamic club culture through
her queer-friendly KYUNDESU club nights, N² unites the different sides of her musical world
through her first full-length project.
iDANCE2MUSIC is a love-letter to the nostalgic fruitiger-metro world of the mid 2000s, made
up of iPod ads, Japanese pop-culture and the unapologetically wild underground club scenes of
that era. Featuring collaborations from artists like RUI (f5ve), N² has created a sonic universe that is
entirely her own. Blending genres and inspirations like hard dance, hyperpop, trance, and club-
driven pop, N² explores her identity as an artist through the ideas of love, friendship, jealousy
and ambition.

Tracks like ‘iPHONE5’, ‘jetlag’ and ‘#messygirl’ feature vulnerable introspections and deal with
themes like burnout, social exhaustion and chaotic tendencies delivered against vibrant and
high-speed beats. Other songs like ‘#paypayme’ (feat. ChiChi) and ‘KATSEYE’ (feat. MANON) are playful high-
energy tracks, with ‘#paypayme’ being a flirty and amusing reclamation of modern dating
culture, and ‘KATSEYE’ being a humorous nod to the online confusion between the Japanese
artist MANON and the member of the girl group KATSEYE.
“Every song represents a different side of me. Some are funny, some are emotional, and
some are a little chaotic, but they’re all honest. Music has helped me through so many
different situations in my life, and I wanted to make something that reflects that.” — N2
